A New Nation

I thought about things today - we are entering a new era, a new president and hopefully an age of hope. It seems we've been on such a downward slope as a country - I truly hope that things change and that people can pull together as a nation and support our new President. So I thought this was a better photo for today!

New England Photographers Convention

I went to the NECCC - that's short for New England Camera Club Convention. Which is more than a mouthful. This was held in Amherst, MA at the University of Massachusetts. I totally enjoyed it and learned a lot. I stayed in a dorm, wow - it's been ages since I have done that! Dorms are much nicer now than they were even just 25 years ago!!

Here is my photo of the day - it is of the old church on the campus of UMass at Amherst - thought it was very pretty and serene at night! I did this shot hand held, propped on my knees for stability - still got some camera shake - next time I will lug the tripod!!!

I just thought this was sort of appropriate. I swear I am this close to buying a horse! I keep trying to think of ways to cut down on the driving I do. I have three kids, in 3 different schools and they each have activities and obligations. I drive a ton. I can actually hear the sucking noises coming from my gas tank. Things will change a LITTLE next year as my older two will be in the same school - and my daughter will be driving - but not by much.

I remember the gas lines of the 1970's and we were all panicked that they would run out of gas and gas was outrageously priced at, oh around .86 a gallon. Seriously. I guess it's all relative since things were much different then - but still, I remember two years ago groaning that I was NOT going to pay $2 a gallon for gas. Man what I wouldn't give for that now -it's like reverse psychology. We would actually WELCOME $2 a gallon now. It's maddening.

I'll buy a horse, and go riding with my camera 'stuff' !Until then, I guess it just pays to consolidate trips as much as possible.

My Photo of the Day today - it's dreary here, cloudy and rainy - so I needed something to perk me up!

I LOVE New England, with it's quaint homes, colonial history, lighthouses, scenic views and bucolic farms. There is a scene for every mood here! I have a favorite spot and a favorite lighthouse. York Beach in Maine is where you will find Cape Neddick Light - also known as Nubble Light. There is a little park nearby, called Sohier Park, I love to grab lunch, and sit on the benches and just enjoy the view, listen to the waves crashing and the smell of the ocean air!

Here is a link to the history of this beautiful light: Nubble Light

Since it was a beautiful, clear, crisp spring day and I always have my camera handy I took a few photos! I can almost feel the warmth of the sun when I look at the picture - which is a nice thing today - since I am almost chilly - it's May - where's my sunshine?!
